Senate Democrats blocked a Florida Senator’s fraud enforcement act.
Florida Senator Ashley Moody took to the Senate floor to pass her National Fraud Enforcement Division Act, a bill aimed at codifying the Trump administration’s anti-fraud enforcement division, but it was blocked by Senate Democrats.
The Florida Republican was quick to call out the Democratic Senators for voting against the legislation.
“Democrats shockingly continue to side with fraudsters and against hardworking Americans. Combatting fraud should be a 100-0 issue. Acting as good stewards of taxpayer dollars is the most foundational aspect of being a public servant, yet we continue to battle a party that seemingly wants to protect institutional grift,” said Republican Florida Senator Ashley Moody.
Senator Moody filed the National Fraud Enforcement Division Act the day after it passed in the U.S. House. The legislation creates a National Fraud Enforcement Division within the DOJ to go after fraudsters and bad actors who steal taxpayer dollars. More than $260 billion in fraud nationwide has been uncovered by the Trump administration.
The Florida Senator serves on the Senate Anti-Fraud Task Force, an oversight effort focused on identifying fraud against the federal government, exposing systemic vulnerabilities, recovering taxpayer dollars, and advancing reforms that strengthen accountability.
Senator Moody said she has always been committed to combating fraud and protecting taxpayer dollars. In the past year and a half alone, Florida Senator Ashley Moody:
She said every new idea put forward by Republicans is rejected by Democrats.
