MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. — A motorcycle crash left one person dead and another injured in Morgan County.
Deputies were sent to the scene just after 5 p.m. Sunday on McClure Road, just east of State Road 42.
Investigators say Louis Rightmyer, 72, of Indianapolis, was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on McClure Road when he ran off the north side of the road. Both he and his passenger, Shirley Rightmyer, 69, of Whitestown, were thrown from the motorcycle.
Shirley Rightmyer died at the scene. Louis Rightmyer was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with injuries that were not life-threatening.
According to investigators, Louis Rightmyer was wearing a helmet, but Shirley Rightmyer was not.
As required by Indiana law, Louis Rightmyer provided a blood sample for testing.
The Morgan County Prosecutor’s Office will review the investigation once it is finished.
