(KRON) -- Three children were found at a Morgan Hill homicide scene inside a home on Vintage Lane, police said. The children, ages 3, 6, and 14, were safely escorted to the Morgan Hill Police Department Saturday and later released into custody of the Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children’s Services.
MHPD said Roy Anthony Lopez, 37, of Morgan Hill, arrived at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose at 9:20 a.m. on Oct. 3 and "reported that he had killed his wife."
First responders found the gravely injured woman inside a car parked at the hospital. "The victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene," the police department wrote.
San Jose and Morgan Hill police officers detained Lopez at the hospital and took him into custody for questioning.
Investigators said they determined that the homicide happened at the Vintage Lane residence.
"Officers conducted a protective sweep of the residence and located three minor children," MHPD wrote. They are currently in FCS custody.
